Troubleshoot Markdown

How can I make Markdown the default program to open files?

Change default programs in Windows

  1. Start by right-clicking on your file, then select "Open With" and continue by clicking "Choose another app" from the options provided;
  2. Inside the popup window, scroll through the list of applications and specifically choose Markdown as the application to associate with your file;
  3. Check the "Always use this application" checkbox, and then click "OK" to apply the selected application as the default for opening files.

Choose an app to open a file on Mac

  1. Right-click or use Control + Left-click on the desired file to open a menu where you can choose from multiple actions;
  2. Choose "Open in Application" and click "Other";
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the window, and there you will find the "Enable" menu. The default selection is "Recommended Programs";
  4. Choose "All Programs" in this menu and search for Markdown. Check the box next to "Always open in app" to make it the default program.

What Causes Markdown to Crash Frequently?

Insufficient software updates can contribute to Markdown crash. To avoid this, make sure that you have installed the latest updates for developer products.

A simple restart of your computer can often fix many common problems, which is why it is the recommended first step before making any adjustments to your software settings.
